The Palestinian Nakba, Arabic for catastrophe, refers to the events that preceded the founding of Israel in 1948. These events include several massacres all over historic Palestine, mass forced displacement of over 750,000 Palestinians, and the ethnic cleansing of over 500 towns and villages. This tragic period is commemorated on May 15th of every year.

These events did not end in 1948, hence the term, “Ongoing Nakba”. For the past 76 years Israel has systematically continued to expel more Palestinians, steal more land, and commit more massacres. The goal has always been to displace and replace Palestinians who are indigenous to the land. Today, this is being done much more clearly in the form of a genocide on the Gaza Strip.
