A day after the killing of the school children in Gaza, people across the West Bank and the Gaza Strip poured out in mass demonstrations to protest the cruel slaying of the three young brothers.

The outraged population went out in impromptu demonstration in the Gaza Strip, especially, where some took the form of mock funerals. All demonstrations included a gaggle of children, sympathizing with the unfortunate death of innocent children like themselves.

These non-violent protests in Gaza were allegedly punctuated with the gunfire of the Hamas supported Executive Force firing upon the crowds, according to eye witnesses. Four children were among those injured. They had been participating in a march to the Governor’s office in Khan Younis in order to deliver a letter condemning the killing of their peers the previous day. Two of the children fired upon sustained head injuries, which were described as critical.

While the immediate blame fell on the Executive Force, a Hamas-affiliated militia, they issued denial of any involvement in the shooting at demonstrators, especially those that included children.

Women’s organizations in Bethlehem and Jenin also organized popular demonstrations, which included a number of school children, amidst widespread condemnation of the brutal killing of innocents in Gaza. Some children carried posters of the slain children and slogans asking the perpetrators to step forward and declare their motives to a population that has had enough of the internal unrest currently threatening to become even more violent than it has been in recent months.

Amidst popular condemnation of Monday’s incident, there have been calls for the resignation of the Hamas-led government among other factions, in order to pave the way for a solution to the current situation of stagnation across all Palestinian sectors.
