Needless to tell you all about the joys of curfew and so called daily life in sweet Ramallah.

I wish I had something a bit optimistic to unveil to you but no... and you got the latest in length front Vera.

I defy the curfew quite often and roam the streets aimlessly, in an apparently vain attempt to throw away my profound depression and immence sadness in some gutter. It does not work.

Since we have not really taken the decision to be friends, and since we know each other mainly by proxy or through a shared cup of tea in your garden , I feel less inhibited than with others to talk.

Maybe you are busy up to your eyeballs, maybe you have better things to do, but I severely miss someone I barely know. Sad because my mom died a month ago and went through a very difficult period. Apparently the trauma of the first invasion of April, the occupation of the house and all what followed, plus the occupation of the new house and the fear was just too much for my sweet mom.

She never complained or expressed fear, in words, but it apparently affected her severely. The deterioration of her body and mind was so rapid and so painful it just broke my heart. There was nothing I could do to ease her suffering and anyway she stopped knowing who I was and kept calling her mother for two long months. When she finally could not fight the fear anymore she stopped calling and went to her mom.

The unfairness of it all is that at 90 she should, had there been any justice anywhere, gone to sleep peacefully. but the injustice of this world and the one above is identical, she had to suffer beyond human endurance. The worse was when she called me ( mother) and told she was in pain and when I asked what was hurting she said : my spirit hurts" I have never found a pain killer or an antibiotic for the torments of her spirit.
