The attack took place at the densely-populated civilian neighborhood of AlZaitoon in Gaza.

Israel used American made F-16 fighter jets in an assassination attempt on two men believed to be members of Hamas. This extra-judicial killing was carried out by the Israeli air-force, who fired three missiles at the civilian car instantly killing the two targeted men riding in the car along with a third civilian passenger. As Palestinian crowds gathered around the burnt car in an attempt to rescue the targeted men, an apache helicopter fired two more missiles at the civilians assembled killing 4, including 2 children, and wounding 48, 22 of them children.

In a separate incident 12-year-old Annas Kahlout who had sustained wounds by the Israeli troops at Jabalya refugee camp in March was pronounced dead bringing the total number of Palestinians killed in the past 12 hours to 8, among them 3 children. The Palestinian Initiative for the Promotion of a Global Dialogue and Democracy (MIFTAH) urges the international community to condemn these attacks, and to take immediate steps to protect the Palestinian people from the horrors of Israel's militaristic measures and policies. The international community is legally and morally bound to take a stance against such atrocities, particularly in accordance with the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949.
