Your Key to Palestine
The Palestinian Initiatives for The Promotoion of Global Dialogue and Democracy

Just hours after the ‘roadmap’ was handed over to the Palestinians and Israelis, Israel committed another deadly attack aiming to jump start the cycle of violence and affirming that this Israeli government will do anything in its power in order to assure that the roadmap for peace is never implemented and the violent occupation and systematic murder of Palestinians along with the peace process continues.

Israeli tanks and armored vehicles invaded the civilian neighborhood of AlShajaiya in Gaza late Wednesday night murdering 8 Palestinian civilians amongst them two children, a toddler, and a mentally disabled man. Early Thursday morning an Israeli unit’s incursion into Yatta south of Hebron in the West Bank left two men gunned down and killed by the occupation troops. On Wednesday evening a Palestinian farmer was shot dead in the West Bank village of Toobas near Nablus, also on Wednesday evening a 75-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman were shot dead in Rafah near the border of Egypt in Gaza.

The total number of Palestinians killed in the past 12 hours has reached 13, 11 of the killed are innocent unarmed civilians. In AlShajaiya neighborhood in Gaza: 2-year-old Ameer Ayyad, 13-year-old Mahmoud AlDahbdoob, 15-year-old Ahmad AlTatar, 21-year-old AbdAllah Alamrani, 25-year-old Mohammad Naim, 30-year-old Mohammad AbuZeina, 36-year-old Nasser Hals and 40-year-old mentally retarded man Bakr Mohussein. In Yatta south of Hebron: 23-year-old Mohammad Bdair and 24-year-old Khaled AlMakhamne were surrounded at a house and gunned down by the Israeli occupation soldiers. On Wednesday evening in Rafah 55-year-old woman Subheya AbuAtwia was shot dead along with 75-year-old Mansoor AbuHadeed by the Israeli troops invading Rafah. Raed Daraghmeh a Palestinian farmer from Toobas near Nablus is the thirteenth victim of Israeli aggression and state sponsored terror killed in past 12 hours.

The Palestinian Initiative for the Promotion of a Global Dialogue and Democracy (MIFTAH) urges the international community to condemn these attacks, and to take immediate steps to protect the Palestinian people from the horrors of Israel's militaristic measures and policies. These attacks against Palestinian civilians affirm the need for international observers to monitor the Israeli troops' actions throughout the Palestinian territories. Israel should be held responsible and accountable by the international community for attempting to undermine the ‘roadmap’ and the prospects of a peaceful solution, and an end to Israel's 36-year-old occupation of the Palestinian territories.

The international community is legally and morally bound to take a stance against such atrocities, particularly in accordance with the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949. We also urge all institutions of civil society, human rights groups of the international community to break the silence and take real steps to end Israel's aggression against a captive Palestinian population.
