Your Key to Palestine
The Palestinian Initiatives for The Promotoion of Global Dialogue and Democracy

The Israeli army has been escalating the level of violence and taking out small but constant amounts of Palestinians daily. Palestinian civilians are openly targeted and killed by 'trigger happy' Israeli soldiers. Encouraged by the new Chief of Staff, General Ya'alon, the Israeli soldiers have forgotten all rules of engagement and are rampaging, looting and, far more importantly, mindlessly killing Palestinian civilians. This behavior sponsored by highest ranks in the Israeli government, who refuse to hold soldiers accountable for the numerous and unimaginable war crimes they commit. Welcome to the jungle, it seems we have entered the hunting season in the occupied territories. Branding Palestinians a "cancer", Ya'alon said that he is merely applying "chemotherapy

"Chemotherapy", a.k.a. the unrelenting brutality of the Israeli forces, has caused the deaths of 120 Palestinians since July, including 40 children and 22 females. An Israeli tank shell slammed into a Bedouin encampment in Gaza, killing a woman, her two sons and their cousin. In the West Bank on Saturday, 2 children, ages 6 and 10, and 2 teenagers were killed in a botched missile attack, while on Sunday, 4 Palestinians working the night shift in a West Bank quarry were killed in cold blood by Israeli troops. These killings have continued unabated, as today, 3 innocent Palestinian as a result of random shooting by the Israeli army.

The Israeli 'Defense' Minister has called for yet another 'investigation.' It is crucial to point out that "the vast majority of military police investigations into killings of Palestinian civilians have ended without charges being filed," the Associated Press noted. The Israeli officials declared the killing of civilians in all three incidents a "regrettable mistake." This has become all too familiar, since the Israeli army has apologized for over two dozen 'mistakes' committed in the past two years. Countless blunders have claimed over 1800 Palestinian lives and Israel's worthless regret can not bring their lives back. It feels palpable that the Israeli army's deadly errors are a state sponsored policy, aimed at "purifying Judea and Samaria".

One can dream that the Palestinians will get their justice and put some of the ruthless soldiers on trial, just as Israel is now able to pass life sentences on Palestinian activists based on evidence that should have been thrown out at first instance. If that dream is realized then Ya'alon, along with senior members in the Israeli government and army, will have some explaining to do. "They (the soldiers) will say, 'these are the orders we received'," an Israeli human rights attorney said. The escalation of attacks comes at a time when the Palestinians have been debating which means of resistance are legitimate and noble, halting attacks against Israeli civilians in recent weeks. This Israeli government has no vision for peace and co-existence, its only concern is to remain in power. Meanwhile, the injustices committed against the Palestinians are victimizing both Palestinian and Israeli civilians. "With great power come great responsibility," Israel is neglecting its responsibilities and murdering peace.
