(MIAMI, FL, 11/15/2002) The March For Justice, a Miami based, human and civil rights organization, is sending an envoy to Jordan to try to resolve an impasse between US government and a family of Jordanian victim. The impasse occurred when the US government failed to assume responsibility for the death of Mr. Asa’d Khalil Issa Alramahy; a Jordanian citizen who was killed as a result of being hit by car driven by a US diplomat. Instead of attending to the badly injured and bleeding victim, the US diplomat Mr. Chris (Cartey) Carter, placed his business card on the chest of the laying victim and left the scene.

As of today, about 2 years after the accident that caused death of Mr. Alramhay, neither the US government nor US Embassy in Jordan have reimbursed the victim's family for the approximately $100,000 of medical bills, paid any compensation, or even issued an apology to the family or to the People of Jordan.

In a statement released by The March for Justice, Chairman Nidal Sakr, said;

“As guests on foreign lands, we would expect our citizens and officials to act with utmost respect to lives, customs and basic rights of host nations. It is practices such as the ones alleged against Mr. carter, and foreign policies that show no regard to human lives or values that put our interest and safety of our citizens in great danger. Our "Mission For Peace" is an opportunity to rebuild trust and respect between our nation and the People of Jordan and the world. It is also a call on our government to observe its responsibilities and meet its obligations which are directly related to the world's sentiment towards our people and to the safety of our citizens here at home and abroad.”

The March envoy, Mr. Sakr, will also visit other countries in the area to promote better relations between the American People and other nations, and to address human and civil rights issues in these areas. Mr. Sakr will have contact numbers in the areas he will be visiting which will be provided to the media upon e-mail requests. The March envoy is set to depart the US on the "Mission For Peace" late Wednesday November 21, 2002.

Besides being Chairman of The March, Mr. Sakr is also a board member of a number of leading human and civil rights organizations, councils, and commissions.

Mr. Sakr may be contacted during the 3-week trip at: nidal@marchforjustice.com.
