Nablus – 20 August – Yesterday, the World Food Program and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs provided 6,500 pieces of bread to more than 3,000 Palestinian residents under an Israeli army curfew in several neighborhoods in Nablus.

“After five days of curfew, people are without bread - a major staple of the Palestinian diet,” said Jean Luc Siblot, Director of the World Food Program in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Attempts were made by the UN agencies to coordinate the distribution of the bread with the Israeli army. After these did not work out, the UN agencies handed over the bread to Nablus Governorate’s office, which carried out the actual distribution.

Today marks the fifth consecutive day of curfew in several parts of Nablus. The UN agencies are planning another food distribution if the current situation continues.
