Your Key to Palestine
The Palestinian Initiatives for The Promotoion of Global Dialogue and Democracy

Dear Dr. Simmons,

As a Smith graduate (1958), reading about your career and your character, I have been impressed with you as a person of great wisdom and integrity. I know your going to Brown from Smith was a loss for Smith!

So it is with surprise and dismay that I learn of Brown's discrimination against the graduate from Palestine, in not allowing her flag to be flown, like those of all other international students.

As a Jew, I am painfully aware of the situation in Israel/Palestine. But as a human rights activist, I have learned how unfair and racist it is arbitrarily to take Israel's side in that controversy. At my own university, those of us trying to present the Palestinians as human beings have been harassed by Zionist groups. Luckily, our president has consistently resisted their efforts, granting us full academic freedom.

I would hope Brown would do the same. Let the Palestinian flag fly!

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Aaronsohn, Ed.D.
