On Thursday the Israeli Occupation Force rolled into Ramallah with about 50 tanks and dozens of armored vehicles and surrounded the Muqata’a, Arafat’s compound. In addition to destroying the premises of the compound the IOF cut the pipes supplying water to the Muqata’a. Food and water are both running dangerously low. Over 200 people remain in the Muqata’a many in need of medical supplies; some of them are seriously ill. Ambulances have been detained and needed medical teams have not been allowed into the compound to treat those in need of medical attention.

The IOF has been exploding surrounding buildings and has begun putting razor wire and digging a trench around the Muqata’a. Yesterday one Palestinian was killed and two were injured last night by the Israeli snipers, more explosions and shooting could be heard.

“Those in the Muqata’a must be allowed to receive this humanitarian aid. It is against international law to hold up the medical supplies needed by people inside. Besides the basic need of water there are people that need medicine for hypertension, heart disease, and diabetes. Without receipt of water and these medical supplies conditions will become life threatening, “ said a representative of the Grassroots International Protection for the Palestinian People (GIPP)
