The Writing Empowerment Project in collaboration with JARAS, the Palestinian Initiative for the Right to Education and Teachers Without Borders announces Everyone's Children

Everyone's Children matches children in Palestine who are under occupation and curfew and are unable to get to school on a regular basis, with teachers and classrooms around the world who provide academic support, addressing both the cognitive and affective needs of the children. Each teacher in the program is assigned one Palestinian child, supporting this child's academic and developmental progress via the internet or through the mail. Teachers work with students in English and/or Arabic. Teachers also work with The WE Project in developing curriculum and sharing insights and resources with other teachers in the program. The program will be initiated as a pilot program with approximately 25 teacher-student pairs.

Teachers Needed

Teachers in the program are selected based on their teaching credentials, transcripts, references and their applications. Teachers must demonstrate experience with cross-cultural educational environments, educational innovation, and a dedication to progressive political social change. Teachers with a credential are preferred but unique exceptions may be considered. Fluency in Arabic is highly appreciated. University Professors who can help High School Students prepare for higher education are also encouraged to apply. Teachers participating in Everyone's Children need to commit to one to two hours a day of volunteer time with their assigned Palestinian student and be able to attend occasional workshops and collaborative sessions with other teachers in the program.

Applications are presently being accepted. To apply;

*Describe your teaching experience, areas of expertise, subjects and grade levels and the years you have taught them. *Answer the following questions: What is your philosophy of education? What theorists and methodologies do you use the most in designing an educational program? What is your experience with political social change? What languages do you speak? What approaches and methodologies do you anticipate utilizing with this unique teaching assignment? What is your motivation for volunteering for this program? What is your position on the political situation in Palestine-Israel?

*Send copies of teaching credentials, college transcripts and three letters of recommendation via snail mail or as jpg attachments.
