Invitation to ACJ-MEI Washington, DC Event
By ACJ and MEI
November 10, 2002

The American Committee on Jerusalem (ACJ) and the Middle East Institute (MEI) invite you to attend a meeting with Daniel Lubetsky & Mohammad Darawshe of the PeaceWorks Foundation, Israel, on Thursday, November 14, 2002, from 12:00 - 1:00 pm.

The title of the briefing is "Where is the Voice of the People? The PeaceWorks Initiative for Arab-Israeli Dialogue"

The PeaceWorks Foundation's initiative, One Voice: "Silent No Longer", is challenging the notion of "unsolvable differences" amongst Israelis and Palestinians with an innovative approach designed to amplify the voice of the moderate majority who wish to end violence and live in peaceful co-existence, but whose voices have been drowned out by extremists. This pragmatic project has gathered strong momentum based upon the concept of building a neutral forum vetted by hundreds of experts over the course of 18 months of research and preparation, and the development of grassroots and policy level support.

Daniel Lubetzky, founder, and Mohammad Darawshe, Chairman of the PeaceWorks Foundation's Steering Committee in Israel, will describe this constructive effort and the possibilities for using mass mobilization to propel political representatives to implement the will of the people for a principled compromise.

The event will take place in the Middle East Institute's Boardman Room at 1761 N Street, NW, Washington, DC. This event is free and no RSVP is required, but space is limited - arrive early to ensure a seat. Guests are encouraged to bring a brown-bag lunch.

The ACJ is a coalition of major Arab-American organizations dedicated to promoting a solution to Jerusalem which accommodates the deep attachments of people of the three monotheistic religions to the city, and the political aspirations of both Palestinians and Israelis.
