Joint Condemnation of Violence Aimed at Civilians

We, Israeli and Palestinian medical non-governmental organizations, working for many years in joint protest against the Israeli occupation and all other forms of injustice, believe that violence against civilians is unacceptable and inexcusable.

We jointly condemn Sunday night's attack, in which a Palestinian gunman killed five civilians in an Israeli kibbutz. We see all such attacks as reprehensible, and call for an end to violence against all civilians. The past two years have seen a cheapening of human life. Too many civilians were killed blindly, through the eyes of arbitrary political violence, which seeks to achieve a general cause while ignoring the sanctity of individual lives.

We will continue to work with unabated energies to end occupation, oppression and injustice perpetrated against Palestinian communities in the Occupied Territories. At the same time we will oppose violence against Israeli civilians, and call for joint Israeli and Palestinian non-violent protest, whose aim is justice and peace.

Our joint work over the past fifteen years, and especially during the escalation in human rights violations over the past two years, is a model for an alternative way of life in our region – one based on human and professional solidarity, non-violence and justice.
