Ramallah – MIFTAH recently signed a cooperation agreement with UNDP as part of the program: “Supporting the Rule of Law: achieving justice and security for the Palestinian people.”

CEO Dr. Lily Feidy signed on behalf of MIFTAH while Roberto Valent, Special Representative of the Administrator, signed on behalf of UNDP/PAPP.

The agreement contributes to supporting the rule of law in Palestine through a MIFTAH project aimed at promoting women’s access to services in the security sector and promoting the principles of social accountability in Palestine. The project is to be implemented within a timeframe of 10 months, started from mid-June.

The project includes several activities aimed at advancing the outreach and influence capacities of members of the youth network to combat corruption and promote social accountability, especially women's access to justice, at the national and local levels.

Special research will also be developed to gauge the extent to which the security sector responds to the needs of women, with general policy recommendations to address the gaps in women's access to security processes and social accountability/anti-corruption factors . A number of interactive activities will be carried out by youth groups as part of the awareness campaign with the goal of influencing public opinion on corruption and other issues pertaining to the challenges faced by women in accessing the justice sector.

In addition, training sessions will be organized for police units and the national gender committee in the security sector on accountability and responsiveness of the security sector to the needs of women to access security and justice.
