In tandem with the genocide in Gaza, Israeli mass arbitrary arrests have been on the rise against Palestinians all over Palestine. Since October 7, Israel has adopted military orders and legal amendments pertaining to detainees from Gaza, further allowing them to commit human rights abuses with full impunity. Of the over 9,500 Palestinians currently detained in the West Bank, 80 of them are women. Female prisoners are being subjected to some of the worst forms of torture and ill-treatment, including sexual harassment and even rape. Former female prisoners are often hesitant to come forward and share their stories and experiences due to social stigma and the belief that there will be no accountability by Israel.
