Israeli forces shelled Khan Younis refugee camp in the Gaza Strip this morning, killing a 5-month old baby (Iman Mustafa Haijo). The baby was killed immediately when Israel tank shells landed on her home. Several casualties were also reported from the camp, most of whom are children.

At the same time, Israeli forces continue (to this moment) to shell Aida refugee camp in Bethlehem, where a Palestinian school came under heavy Israeli fire. Several injuries were also reported from the school in Aida camp.

Israel's use of brute military force against unarmed Palestinians continues to increase, with horrific human losses.

The Palestinian Initiative for the Promotion of Global Dialogue and Democracy (MIFTAH) calls for immediate action to end Israel's continued atrocities against the Palestinian people, in particular, Israel's total disregard to the lives of innocent Palestinian children.

MIFTAH urges the international community to take a firm stance to end the daily assaults being committed by Israel against the Palestinians. The United States, the European Union, as well as European governments must take concrete steps to end these massacres.

In particular, MIFTAH urges all concerned bodies to intervene in stopping Israel's killing of children, including The United Nations Children's Fund, Defence for Children, Save the Children, as well as other bodies.

Israel is legally, morally, and politically in violation of the most basic Palestinian rights. Such violations must not be met with international silence, but, rather, by international condemnation.
