Arab League Supports Palestinian Position on Jerusalem
By MIFTAH

Arab League member-states have clearly stated in their latest summit that they will break relations with any state recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Until there is a peace agreement between the Israelis and Palestinians, the Arab League is determined to stand firm on its position.

The international community does not recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, thus, foreign embassies to Israel are located in Tel Aviv instead.

US President Bill Clinton, however, has stated two months ago that he will consider moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, and that the issue will be discussed further towards the end of the year. Clinton’s statement, which has raised much Palestinian concern, is an unlawful support to Israel’s illegal status in Jerusalem, which is in direct violation of UN Resolutions and the Fourth Geneva Convention.
