A New "King" in Occupied Palestinian Territories
By MIFTAH

A new Burger King branch is being constructed along the southwestern hilly area of Latroun, in the West Bank. This area was occupied by Israel in 1967, therefore, any such project is considered illegal in light of existing agreements between Israel and the Palestinians, the Fourth Geneva Convention, and the provisions of International Law in general.

Burger King is not to be blamed regarding this issue; it is, rather, the Israeli government that needs to be confronted. Israel is well aware of the fact that it cannot, under the provisions of the Fourth Geneva Convention, make any alterations to the areas it has illegally occupied in 1967.

Therefore, it is the responsibility of the Israeli government to stop this project, and to bring to the attention of multinational corporations the fact that they cannot expand in “Palestinian” areas under its occupation.
