The hunger strike against the Israeli Apartheid wall is now entering its fifth day.

The solidarity tent at the northern entrance to Jerusalem has become a focal point for mobilizing support and solidarity with strike worldwide. Yesterday the hunger strikers were joined by two women Dima Hamdan and Fatima Toes.

Expressions of solidarity have been pouring in from all over the world. The Palestinian American Congress and Palestinians for Peace and Democracy have called for two days of hunger strike in solidarity with the hunger strikers in Jerusalem. The hunger strike will be on July 8th and July 9th.

In London, Victor Kattan, a correspondent for Arab Media Watch and a law graduate, who covered the oral pleadings before the International Court of Justice in The Hague has also declared an open hunger strike.

Today the Pontifical Mission Delegation visited the tent to express their solidarity. The delegation was made up of Archbishop Marcel Gervais, Chairmann of the Board, CNEWA Canada, Chorbishop John Faris, Asssoiate Secretary General, CNEWA Mr. Crl Hetu, National Secretary, CNEWA Canada, Fr. Paul Can, Parish Priest, Ottawa, Canada, and Mr. Maher Turjman, Regional Director, Pontifical Mission Jerusalem Office

A delegation from the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI) visited the solidarity tent and have joined the hunger strike for the day. They are Matthew Robson, UK, Motlatsi Xhalabile, Wesselsbron, South Africa, and Martin Smedjeback, Sweden.

The hunger strikers have issued a call for solidarity tents to be set up in all Palestinian centers and for all those concerned at the devastating human consequences of the wall on the Palestinian people to organize protests and acts of solidarity.
