Facts about "The Apartheid Wall":

Purpose of the Barrier

• To increase the area available for Israeli settlements on the rich Palestinian agricultural land to serve as satellites or suburbs for Israeli cities.
• To control the water resources of the West Bank.
• To assure full control over security zones.
• To erase the green line (June '67 border) ahead of prospective negotiations.

The wall in the Qalqilia district is 38 km long.

The wall surrounding Qalqilia is 14 km long

The width of the wall ranges from 60 – 104 meters

Impact on Qalqilia District :

Dividing Qalqilia district into 5 areas with 45.000 inhabitants: Qalqilia – Daba – Ras Tira – Wadi Rasha – Southern Ramadin.

In January 2004, 17 Demolition orders were handed to those Palestinian villages.
