Yesterday in London, the world at large was reminded of the horrific effects global terrorism has on innocent civilians around the world. As innocent people in London embarked on yet another normal working day, they were woken up to several bombs that struck the heart of the English capital. In what appears to have been a coordinated terrorist attack, blasts were reported on three London Underground trains and a bus, as Thursday morning's rush hour drew to a close.

The first explosion took place at 8:51 on an Underground train just outside the busy Liverpool Street station, near London’s financial district. The first explosion was soon followed by another explosion at 8:56 near Kings Cross central station in North London. Then a third bomb exploded at 9:17 at Edgware Road, known to many as the Arab neighborhood in London. The final explosion took place approx 30 min. later this time on a bus near Tavistock square.

MIFTAH, unequivocally condemns these horrific and indiscriminate terrorist attacks, and believes there is no justification whatsoever for such despicable acts. Furthermore, MIFTAH would like to extend its condolences and solidarity to all those injured and affected by the events that took place in London.

Finally MIFTAH, would like to see all the perpetrators involved in this most outrageous attack to be swiftly brought to Justice, and calls on the international community to step up its efforts to ensure the safety of all innocent civilians around the world, regardless of their nationality, race, gender or religion.

The Palestinian Initiative for the Promotion of Global Dialogue and Democracy, MIFTAH, is a non-governmental, non-partisan Jerusalem-based institution dedicated to fostering democracy and good governance within Palestinian society through promoting public accountability, transparency, the free flow of information and ideas and the challenging of stereotyping at home and abroad.
