JERUSALEM – July 23, 2005 – Yesterday, shortly after midnight, in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, three consecutive explosions claimed the lives of as many as 83 innocent civilians and injured up to 200 others. This follows attacks on London and Beirut.

Once again, the world has been reminded of the devastating and horrific effects that global terrorism has on innocent civilians around the world. MIFTAH unequivocally condemns these indiscriminate and immorally unjustifiable attacks.

MIFTAH would like to extend its condolences and solidarity to all those injured and affected by the events that took place in Sharm el-Sheikh.

MIFTAH would like to see all the perpetrators involved in these attacks brought to justice, and calls on the international community to step up its efforts to ensure the safety of all innocent civilians around the world, regardless of their nationality, race, gender or religion.

The Palestinian Initiative for the Promotion of Global Dialogue and Democracy, MIFTAH, is a non-governmental, non-partisan Jerusalem-based institution dedicated to fostering democracy and good governance within Palestinian society through promoting public accountability, transparency, the free flow of information and ideas and the challenging of stereotyping at home and abroad.
